DFD is a Canadian organization formed by two female industrial designers that endeavors to bring design solutions to developing nations, specifically Africa.

This is a great project. I don't know much about it yet but plan to contact the directors for more information. It brings up the question about Canada v. America, though. Massive Change: is it only happening in Canada???
"Massive Change: the Future of Global Design is the groundbreaking collaboration between Canada's internationally acclaimed design guru Bruce Mau and the students of the Institute without Boundaries. Two years of intensive research and design work inside the Bruce Mau Design studio culminated in a 15,000 square foot exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ontario in March 2005, which originally premiered at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 2004. The assignment for the teams was to create Massive Change: the Future of Global Design, an ambitious public installation that included a book with Phaidon Press, a speakers' series, a radio program, an evolving website, line of products with Umbra, and an international exhibition."

So, is what I'm proposing a duplication of efforts? Maybe duplication is good, especially when it takes place in a different country.
